California Highway Patrol officers say a semi-truck crossed a barrier, hitting two men on the side of the road.
A Jeep Grand Cherokee broke down on the I-5 this morning, prompting the driver to call a friend to bring him gas.
The man was parked off the shoulder while outside of the car when a Fed-Ex truck drifted off the road, hitting the men.
The driver will survive but the friend who came to help died at the scene. Officers say no matter what don’t get out of your car.
"The white line on the road is not a magical barrier where it's going to keep vehicles from crossing over onto it,” said Robert Rodriguez, California Highway Patrol.
CHP officers say the investigation continues tonight and the Fe-Ex driver is cooperating with the investigation.
