Bakersfield Police say three convicted felons were arrested in Northeast Bakersfield Monday night after officers discovered they had illegal weapons in their possession.
BPD says they responded to the area of Fairfax Road and Alfred Harrell Highway around 8:30 p.m. after receiving multiple reports of shots being fired in the area. Officers say they saw individuals shooting guns into the foothills and detained those subjects as they tried to leave.
Upon further investigation, officers found four weapons in a vehicle that they later determined belonged to one of the convicted felons. They included two prohibited AR-15 style rifles and a short barreled shotgun.
BPD says they arrested 32-year-old Antonio Ventura, 24-year-old Issac Ortiz and 21-year-old Javier Ontiveros were arrested and booked for multiple weapons violations and gang participation. Ventura was also arrested for driving under the influence and child endangerment. BPD says he was there were two kids in the car at the time of his arrest.
