BAKERSFIELD, CA. — FFA students presented at the Kern County Fair pig live auction on Thursday.

“The worst part is not being able to see your pig again, but the best part is getting the money," Avery Keverline, Kern Valley FFA student.

The live auction can be a bittersweet part of the FFA fair projects.

“The buyer that comes in anonymously and purchases the majority of the livestock at this auction donates it back to our local food banks so you may be emotional and say 'I love that pig, we really had a connection, that was my animal,' but the bigger picture is you can provide food to people," Emily Keverline, Kern Valley FFA advisor.

The market goat and market lamb categories will hold their live auctions today.
