The family of the 24-year-old killed in a fiery accident near Maricopa Highway and SR-99 is asking for help to pay for his funeral expenses.

The Kern County coroner's office identified the victim on Wednesday as Nelson Reyes. Reyes has two children ages two and six.

On Wednesday, the family went out to the crash site for the first time and set up a memorial at the spot where he died.

The 18-year-old involved in the accident has not been identified but Reyes' family says she was his girlfriend and she is recovering from major back injuries at Kern Medical.

The officers that spotted the crash and stopped to help spoke to 23 ABC news and said that the crash was so bad, the heat from the flames could be felt from the car. One officer extinguished the flames while the other pulled out the 18-year-old from the vehicle. Reyes had been ejected and was pronounced dead on scene.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

The family is having a car wash on Thursday on Cottonwood and Feliz in Bakersfield starting at 10 a.m. To make a donation to the funeral home directly call 661-324-4446 or click on this link: http://www.bakersfieldfunerals.com/mindex.php?id=673684&type=obit
