The fifth annual CASA Superhero Run is happening Saturday morning at the park at Riverwalk. 
 
The family friendly walk and run kicks off at 8:00 a.m.There is a 10K run, 5K run and a 2K walk. 
 
Superhero costumes are encouraged!
 
CASA of Kern County is an organization that provides support for abused and neglected children who really do need a superhero in their lives. 
 
On average, every year in Kern County there are 17,000 reports of suspected child abuse or neglect and in the U.S. 1,500 children die each year due to abuse and neglect. 
 
By joining in the race, you can help provide superheroes for children in need. 
 
More than 700 people are expected to turn out to this event. 
Registration begins at 7 a.m. 
 
It is $35 for the 10K or 5K run.
It is $30 for the 2K walk and kids under 12 are just $15.
 
23ABC's very own Jessica Harrington and Adama Bowles will be taking part in a special media only race to compete against other members of the media here in Kern County, so be sure to go out and cheer them on!
