Kara Ranney is a 13-year veteran for the Vineland School District. Not only does she have rich history with the district, but she's also President of the Vineland Teacher Association.

Ranney has been a leading force in fighting the district's teachers to get raises. It's a battle that then turned into a battle for respect.

Today, Ranney turned in her resignation, that will be effective at the end of June.

She says it wasn't an easy decision. She loves the community and her students, but another job opportunity, in conjunction with clashing with the district was enough.

Dr. Matthew Ross serves as Superintendent for the Vineland School District. He's been concerned about the poor attendance from the districts' teacher and has the documents to show that half of the district's teachers have missed 10 or more nonbusiness related day.

Although Ross didn't have a comment about Ranney's departure, he did say he's looking forward to moving forward in the new school year.
