Emergency crews are headed to reports of a brush fire in the Kern River Canyon near Highway 178, California Highway Patrol dispatchers reported Tuesday.
The fire was called in to CHP at around 12:21 p.m. on eastbound Highway 178 near the Upper Richbar Campground area.
CHP officers may need to shut down the roadway while crews work to contain the fire, dispatchers said.
