The Kern County Fire Department said a quick response helped save millions of dollars after a fire at Wonderful Pistachios and Almonds in Lost Hills.
KCFD responded to a report of a fire in a silo at the businesses just before 9:30 Saturday night. When crews arrived they found a three-story high silo fully involved with fire.
The fire was threatening other silos and infrastructure on three sides.
Due to the location of the silo on the premises, a water tender was dispatched.
The water tender along with a ladder on one of the trucks allowed it to gain better access to penetrate the fire and stopped the fire from spreading to nearby silos.
Officials said there was $300,000 worth of damage.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
