BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Fires crews in the Kern River Valley are getting a hold on what's being called the Mesa Fire.
The Mesa Fire is burning in the Squirrel Mountain Valley. Kern County Fire officials said Thursday morning that the blaze is covering 227 acres. Crews worked through the night to get containment up to 45 percent.
KCFD said the blaze was threatening a home with potential of threatening other homes. Crews were able to keep the fire from the homes.
County fire officials tell 23ABC that crews have stopped forward progress of the fire.
