Crews were called out to an abandoned home in the area of 25th and h streets just after midnight.
Fire officials say the house was known to be used by the homeless. After crews made sure no one was inside it was determined the best course of action was to just let the house burn down.
The house was scheduled to be knocked down by the city in the next week.
When asked if the fire had been started by a homeless person, fire officials said: "Oh, absolutely it was."
