BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — (UPDATE 11:17 a.m. June 13, 2019): Bakersfield Fire Department officials said the gas leak has been capped.
UPDATE: Bakersfield Fire Officials said there are no injuries reported and people have been moved to a safer area inside the Hoffmann Hospice facility.
Bakersfield Fire Department originally told 23ABC News that evacuations were underway at Hoffman Hospice on Buena Vista Road in Southwest Bakersfield due to a gas leak. However, officials said 35 patients were simply moved to a different part of the building as a precautionary measure.
According to the City of Bakersfield Fire Department, SoCal Gas is on-scene to repair the leak.
