BAKERSFIELD, Calif - Fire Fighters from Queretaro, Mexico came to Bakersfield for a visit.

For 15 years, the Bakersfield Fire Department has worked with fire crews from the Queretaro, Mexico.

Tuesday, the crews met with Mayor Goh and received a certificate of appreciation for their years of service and partnership.

Since 2005, the Departments have worked and trained together.

Fire Chief Anthony Galagaza spoke with 23abc about this special relationship.

"It's a crucial time where we can get together, where we can fight fire together. And also, that bond that extends beyond anything fire fighting. It warms the heart of Bakersfield and it should because we are more progressive. We are a better fire department because we can have those relationships outside of Bakersfield." said Galagaza.

Galagaza also highlighted the importance of the partnership during intense fire seasons, like this one.

He said the Departments have a lot to learn from one another.

Mayor Goh also expressed gratitude for the relationship between Bakersfield nad Queretaro, and she said she hopes it goes on for years to come.
