The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Kern County Fire Department would like to remind residents to make sure they maintain the required defensible space around their home. The Kern County weather is beginning to heat up and humidities are starting to drop, which is causing the vegetation to dry out and become very susceptible to burning.
