Firefighters battled a blaze in northeast Bakersfield that started just before 6:30 Wednesday morning.
The fire was reported at a home in the 3200 block of University Avenue.
Bakersfield Fire officials say the home was vacant at the time. The home was a single story building, that neighbors say housed squatters.
No one was in the home and no one was hurt.
It's not known what started the blaze. Arson Investigators are looking into the cause.
