Emergency crews responded to an apartment fire in Oildale on Thursday.
The fire broke out just after 12 p.m. in the area of N. Chester and Ferguson Avenues. Investigators said the resident on the top floor of the two-story apartment, where the fire originated, was not at the scene. The couple on the first floor of the building said they heard someone screaming "fire!" in the area.
The building is located across the street from Standard Middle School and the Standard School District.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this point, but no one was hurt in the blaze.
CHP dispatchers reported that arson investigators were headed to the scene.
