The US Forest Service is fighting a fire in the Black Gulch South recreation area, near Lake Isabella.

The fire started Sunday night around 7:30 p.m. and has spread to 16 acres.

The recreation area will remain open, but officials caution the public to watch out for fire equipment and firefighters.

The river will remain open, and there are no road closures.
