Kern County Fire officials confirmed that a firefighter was injured while battling the Water Fire near Lebec.

Officials reported that the injured firefighter was assisting in on-ground fire operations. He was transported to Kern Medical Center by the Kern County Fire helicopter.

The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.
