Local firefighters need the community's help in raising funds to help give back to families in need. 

The 2018 Bakersfield Firefighter's Fill the Boot event will run from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Friday.

Firefighters will be at the intersection of Rosedale and Mohawk Street raising money to help people dealing with muscular dystrophy.

Organizers say the event helps those families with life-enhancing resources and support.
