On August 2nd local firefighters found human remains near the Democrat Fire Station.

The following day detectives with the Kern County Sheriff's Office responded to the area with assistance from the Sheriff's Office Air Support Unit in order to access the location.

The remains in the area had been burned by the Garden Fire, however authorities believe they were there previous to the fire breaking out. 

Detectives have not yet determined the race or gender of the remains, but they will be examined by the coroner's office to determine the cause and manner of death.
