BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Flames engulfed an abandoned home in east Bakersfield early Thursday morning.

The Kern County Fire Department responded to a house fire on McClean Ave., near Potomac and Quantico Avenues, just before 12:30 a.m.

As crews arrived on scene, the fire had already taken over the home and spread to a nearby detached garage.

Firefighters were able to knock down the fire before it spread to any other neighboring properties.

No one was inside the home.

KCFD says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
