According to the California Department of Public Heath, the person who died from the influenza was suffering from chronic conditions and was living in Yolo County.
The flu is not only capable of causing illness but can even cause death in some instances. To reduce the risk of either of these things happening, the California Department of Public Health recommends getting the flu shot every year for those who are six months or older.
The department also has other tips to avoid getting sick with the flu on their website, which you can find here.
