BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for south central Kern County in effect until 7:15 p.m.

Radar is indicating thunderstorms producing heavy amounts of rain across the county with flash floods expecting to begin shortly.

The NWS Hanford Office says strong storms are continuing in western Kern along I-5.

The NWS Hanford Office says travel may be difficult due to possible heavy rain and reduced visibility. Ponding of water and hydroplaning are also possible.

The NWS Hanford Office is warning drivers to slow down and allow for extra braking distance.
