MARICOPA, Calif. — Highway 166 re-opened between Maricopa and Mettler Thursday afternoon, but Caltrans is warning more rain headed into Kern County could mean a closure once again.
Caltrans District 6 closed Highway 166 at Highway 33 Thursday just before Noon. Officials say major flooding in the area forced the closure in both directions.

They reopened the road around 3:30 p.m., but say just like the road flooded Thursday, rain expected Saturday through Monday could mean another closure.
UPDATE: SR-166 in Kern County has been reopened. Be advised that the next wave of storms foretasted for this weekend may affect the road again.
