On December 10, 2016, around 1:30 a.m., Delano police detectives were called to Valley Children's Hospital in Madera, Calif, regarding a four-month-old child suffering from a skull fracture and many other injuries in various stages of healing.

 

Delano detectives, along with Valley Children's medical staff, determined the injuries were the result of many felonious assaults. Based on the circumstances, the Delano detectives immediately placed the child into protective custody.

 

During the investigation, detectives determined that 29-year-old Edgar Miranda was responsible for causing the injuries. Miranda, the biological father of the child, was arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail for charges including child abuse and assault likely to cause injury or death.
