Frank West Elementary School was on lockdown in South Bakersfield Thursday afternoon after unrelated nearby police activity, officials said Thursday. The school is no longer on lockdown.

Investigators said several suspects ran from police in the area of Doolittle Ave. and Marshall St., prompting the school to go into lockdown as a precaution.

Classes started at the school yesterday following the summer break.
