Kern County fire fighters served up fresh coffee and Carlos' donuts during their Fresh Brew with a Fire Crew event on Sunday morning in Bear Valley Springs. The event was from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. shortly after the Independence Day Community Celebration's hot air ballon ride.

Kern County Fire Chief Brian Marshall said they scheduled their event across the street from the Independence Day Community Celebration to attach more people and to also talk about fire and firework safety leading into the Fourth of July. Chief Marshall said it's important to know where you are in Kern County because didn't parts have different rules pertaining to firework; such as they're illegal in the mountain communities, while allowed in others.

Chief Marshall said they try to have a couple of Fresh Brew with a Fire Crew events around the county annually. And welcome anyone to visit them during their next event to ask them any questions or to check out their fire engines and equipment.
