Free dental cleaning for Taft elementary school students

Posted

A free dental clinic will be held in Taft Saturday for low-income elementary students. The clinic will service approximately 120 to 150 low-income elementary students.

The event is being hosted by the Taft City School District partnered with California Resources Corporation, Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC and the California Teachers Association (CTA) to host a free dental mobile clinic providing much-needed dental services.

The event helps kids get the dental check up they need and provides Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC residents with clinical experience.

It is happening from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Taft City School District located at 820 6th Street in Taft.

In May, USC conducted a thorough dental screening of over 6,000 Taft City School District elementary students and report data showed that about 35% of those students need dental care either immediately or very soon.
