BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Comprehensive Blood & Cancer Center (CBCC) is performing free lung cancer screenings in honor of World Lung Cancer Day.
CBCC said it will offer free screenings through December 31 to high-risk patients, who qualify for a free low-dose CT scan.
Lung cancer continues to be one of the most common cancers worldwide, claiming more lives yearly than breast, colon, and prostate cancers combined, organizers said in a press release.
Only 15% of lung cancers are diagnosed in an early stage, because often there are no symptoms.
Medical insurance is not needed for the screening, organizers said.
To schedule an appointment, or for more information about qualifications for the lung cancer screening, call the CBCC Patient Navigators at 661-865-2573.
