Free Microchip at Kern County Animal Shelter for Holiday Week

BAKERSFIELD, CA. — Kern County Animal Services is offering multiple promotions ahead of the holiday to keep pets safe.

Until Wednesday, you can get your dog or cat microchip for free. This initiative is aimed to ensure you can track your pet if they escape during the firework show on 4th of July.

The animal shelter is also offering waived adopted fees four days ahead of Thursday to make room in the shelter for pets that may come in after the holiday. You can also pick up your pets for free four days after the holiday as part of their 4 Days 4 Freedom initiative.

You can participate in these promotions during the shelter's regular hours.

Kern County Animal Shelter – Bakersfield

3951 Fruitvale Ave, Bakersfield

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday from 10am-4pm

Wednesday from 2pm-7pm

Kern County Animal Shelter – Mojave

901 Poole St, Mojave

Monday through Saturday from 10am-4pm (Closed for lunch from 12pm-1pm)

Kern County Animal Services – Lake Isabella

14891 Highway 178, Lake Isabella
