Families in Lamont were given the chance to get help with their taxes today, thanks to a local assembly member.
For the second straight weekend, Bakersfield Assembly Member Rudy Salas hosted a free tax preparation workshop for families in the 32nd District.
Officials say that millions of dollars in earned income tax credits go unclaimed here in Kern County. Saturday's event was held at the Lamont Branch Library, where students from Arvin High School joined with other organizations to help families who needed it.
Salas says he will be holding more tax preparation events. The next one is scheduled for Saturday, February 25 at North East Bakersfield Branch Library from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
