Fugitive on FBI's Ten Most Wanted list has ties to Bakersfield

Posted

A new fugitive the FBI added its Ten Most Wanted list has connections in Kern County.

Investigators say Jesus Roberto Munguia, who was charged with the 2008 kidnapping and brutal murder of his wife in Las Vegas, has family and gang ties to Bakersfield.

Investigators said Munguia, 41, forced his estranged wife into her car and drove to an unknown location. He then bound her hands with seatbelts and used jumper cables to tie her neck to the seat's head rest. Munguia then beat her to death with a blunt object.

Soon after the initial charges, Munguia fled to avoid prosecution. He is a known member of the Southern California gang TEPA 13 and he has a violent criminal history.

The FBI said Munguia should be considered armed and very dangerous, and that he may have fled to Mexico.
