Bakersfield Police released their report for the month of April. According to the report, gang related homicides are up from last year.
According to the Gang Violence Index there were 17 shooting and five homicides from January through April 2017. This year so far there have been 16 gang related shootings and seven homicides. The report however showed that felony gang-related arrests were down. Last year there were 39 arrests and this year so far there have been 26 arrests.
