Garces grad to run 12 hours for Breast Cancer Awareness

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — On Oct. 3, Garces alum and current baseball assistant coach Jack Tobias will be running a 12-hour marathon on his own at Sam Tobias Field at Garces Memorial High School.

Tobias, a 2018 Garces graduate, is doing this private event on the Garces Memorial campus on the three-year anniversary of his mother’s - Susan Etcheverry Tobias (’86) - breast cancer diagnosis.

Because of COVID-19 protocols, the campus is closed to Tobias and immediate family. Media availability for video and photos will be from 11 a.m. until noon on Saturday.

Temperature checks and daily health screenings will be required by those granted access and masks are required at all times while on campus and this event is closed to the public.
