BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the assistant baseball coach for Garces Memorial High School ran a 12 hour marathon Saturday.
Jack Tobias laced up by himself at the Sam Tobias Field at Garces and ran from the early morning hours until 6:30 p.m., in an effort to raise awareness about breast cancer.
According to Tobias, the initiative comes on the third anniversary of his mother's breast cancer diagnosis.
Tobias has raised $11,000 so far for the Kern County Cancer Foundation.
