Some good news if you're about to fill up for the week gas prices across the country are about 50 cents lower now than they were this time last year.

A new analysis shows gas prices went up less than one cent over the last weeks across the country. At $2.25 a gallon that's 56 cents less than this time a year ago.

Locally the average price of gas is about $2.89 a gallon. According to GasBuddy the Shell station in Buttonwillow has the lowest price at $2.53 a gallon in Kern County. And in Bakersfield Gasco on Chester is coming in at $2.55 a gallon.
