Gas prices in Kern County continue to rise and are now averaging more than $4 a gallon.
On Monday, Gas Buddy released its prices around the country and it shows the average price of gas per gallon in Bakersfield is $4.02. The price per gallon went over the $4 mark thanks to gas increasing 2.5 cents in the last week.
Over the last month, gas prices in Bakersfield have risen 46.6 cents, according to Gas Buddy.
Over the last two months, gas in Bakersfield has risen nearly a dollar a gallon.
According to Gas Buddy, on March 4, the average price of gas per gallon was $3.19.
The last time gas in Bakersfield was more than $4 a gallon at this time of year was in 2014, when the average price of gas was $4.28 per gallon.
Nationally, the average price per gallon is $2.89.
