California is seeing prices at the pump rise as the state continues its reopening efforts. The increase in demand has occurred alongside an increase in the national average.
California's average sits at $2.95 a gallon. That's about 20 cents higher than a month ago but still almost a dollar less than a year ago. According to Triple A, Bakersfield's average price is $2.81, thirty cents higher than a month ago.
Experts say prices across the country will continue to rise as more states reopen.
You can find gas around town for well below that local average though. The cheapest, according to Gas Buddy, can be found at Costco in the southwest at $2.34. The same price can be found at Sam's Club on Gosford. And at the Fastrip on 34th and Q streets you can fill up for the cash price of $2.35.
