BAKERSFIELD, CA. — Thursday night a local, faith-based group with hold a vigil to remember the life of George Floyd, a Minneapolis man who died under police custody.

“We need to come together as one I’m inviting all the protesters to put their signs down for one day," said Joseph Castro, United We Stand.

The vigil will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday night at the Bakersfield Police Department headquarters in Downtown Bakersfield.

“We cant deviate away from the issue," said Castro. "All this protesting and rioting comes from somewhere and the most recent event was with George Floyd and I believe we need to remember him."

Today the memorial services began nationwide for George Floyd.
