GET bus on-demand transit service completes over 700 rides in first month

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — GET Bus launched an on-demand transit service in Southwest Bakersfield in April and since it's launch have completed over 700 rides.

The six-month pilot program is called "RYDE" and launched on April 7.

According to GET Bus, passengers are b able to request a ride on-demand through the Microtransit mobile app or by calling 661- 869-6380. The shuttles, which are smaller than the typical 40-foot GET bus, will take passengers curb-to-curb within the designated zone.

The app will cost riders $3.50. The fare will cover a one-way RYDE in the RYDE zone and/or to a bus hub where riders will have access to other GET services.

RYDE will be available in Southwest Bakersfield on Highway 99, Panama Lane, Old River Road and Rosedale Highway.
