BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — GET Bus will be launching an on-demand transit service in Southwest Bakersfield later this year.
The six-month pilot program is called "RYDE." According to GET Bus, passengers will be able to request a ride on-demand through a mobile app or by calling 661- 869-6380. The shuttles, which will be smaller than the typical 40-foot GET bus, will take passengers curb-to-curb within the designated zone.
The app will cost riders $3.50. The fare will cover a one-way RYDE in the RYDE zone and/or to a bus hub where riders will have access to other GET services.
RYDE will be available in Southwest Bakersfield on Highway 99, Panama Lane, Old River Road and Rosedale Highway. The program is set to launch on Sunday, April 7, 2019.
