BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Assemblymember Vince Fong honored Jennifer Jensen as the 34th District's 2018 Woman of the Year.

Jensen is the Founder and Executive Director of Global Family Care Network, a non-profit that endeavors to protect children and preserve families in 8 countries around the globe.

For over 20 years, she has lived in 5 countries and created a family based model for protecting children. One of her projects focuses on sexually exploited and trafficked children in a comprehensive model of prevention, trauma counseling, shelter, restoration and after care. To date, 1,700 children have been brought back to their families and 1,200 daughters have been cared for because of the Daughter Project and the Global Family Care Network.

“Enough cannot be said about Jennifer’s tireless dedication to protecting our children in our community and around the world,” said Fong. “I am so honored to name Jennifer as our Woman of the Year because her profound work is a light and source of hope for so many women and children who are in the most desperate of circumstances.”
