BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Golden Empire Transit (GET) announced Monday that one of its employees has tested positive for COVID-19.
According to a statement released by GET, an employee tested positive for COVID-19 on May 6th at its Bakersfield facility. The employee, who was not a bus driver, received care and self-quarantined at home. In addition, GET the affected areas of the facility.
“Our primary focus is the safety and well-being of our employees, customers, and our community,” said GET CEO Karen King. “We are doing everything we can to keep our employees and customers safe and healthy and have taken all necessary precautions to achieve this.”
In order to combat the spread of COVID-19, GET announced that it is practicing social distancing at its facility, as well as on buses. Employees have their temperature checked when they report to work. To alleviate crowded buses, GET has added additional buses to busier routes.
