Good Samaritan stops armed robbery at Fastrip

UPDATE (6:49 a.m.): The Bakersfield Police Department has identified the suspect in the robbery as 18-year-old Joshua Farley. 

He faces multiple felonies, including second-degree robbery, possession of a firearm by a felon and resisting. 

He's being held on $105,000 bail and is set to be in court Wednesday.

A man is in custody and a good Samaritan is being credited with helping stop an armed robbery in Northeast Bakersfield early Monday morning. 

According to Bakersfield Police, an armed robbery was taking place around 2:30 a.m. at the Fastrip on Mount Vernon off University Avenue. 

During the armed robbery attempt, a patron in the store, identified as Angel Sanchez, tackled the suspect. During the altercation the robber's gun fired at least one round. No one was hit by the gunfire. 

Sanchez and others helped hold down the suspect until police arrived. 

The suspect has yet to be identified.
