Military GPS testing at the China Lake Naval Air Weapons Center in Kern County could impact commercial flights over the next several weeks, Gizmodo reported Tuesday.

The FAA announced on Saturday that GPS interference testing would run intermittently from June 7 to June 30, and the agency warned pilots to avoid the area on the announced days and times of the testing as it "may result in unreliable or unavailable GPS signal", as noted in a notice posted online.

"I can't go into the details of the testing," Deidre Patin, Public Affairs specialist for China Lake, told Gizmodo. "It's general testing for our ranges."

Neither commercial flights nor private flights in and out of Meadows Field Airport in Bakersfield are expected to be impacted by the testing, a spokesperson told 23ABC News.
