Delano, get ready to watch more movies. The new Maya Cinemas is opening on Thursday.

The grand opening celebration is set for May 17, according to Larry Porricelli, the VP of Maya Cinemas.

The opening festivities will begin on Wednesday, May 16 for a private ceremony. Maya Cinemas CEO, Moctesuma Esparza, will host a ribbon cutting ceremony. He is most known as an Oscar nominated film producer who worked on Selena, Gettysburg, Milagro Beanfield War, and many more.

The full, public celebration continues on Thursday and will feature food, music, and dancers. The grand opening party doesn't top there. It will continue all weekend until Sunday.

Throughout the weekend Maya will be offering free popcorn, $1.50 hot dogs, and movie posters, while supplies last.

This new theater will feature a MPX screen, which Porricelli says is the first of its kind in the valley and offers a brighter, clearer picture. There will also be Dolby Atmos Sound in all auditoriums, which he says brings viewers right into the movie. Stay comfortable with deluxe recliner seats as well.
