FORT TEJON, Calif. (KERO) — Those heading south Friday morning should give themselves plenty of time to make it down the Grapevine. The roadways are open but the California Highway Patrol is pacing traffic and warning drivers to be safe.
Rain and heavy winds have caused slippery roadways along the Grapevine. CHP said they are pacing drivers on Interstate 5 between Fort Tejon and Gorman.
Outside of the Grapevine, CHP said most roads in the surrounding mountain communities are closed.
If drivers are planning on hitting the roads, AAA has some tips to keep everyone safe.
AAA reminds drivers to prepare for slippery roads
Highway 58 remains open as of 8 a.m. Friday.
CHP said Highway 33 is closed Friday morning due to winter weather conditions.
