UPDATE (8/10 9:30 a.m.)
The grass fire on the Panorama Bluffs is fully contained after Bakersfield Fire Department and Kern County Fire worked to put out the blaze. The fire was wind-driven and spread quickly to the east.
No firefighter injuries were reported and the cause remains under investigation.

Firefighters are working to put out grass fire on the Panorama Bluffs near Bakersfield College.
Bakersfield Fire Department said that the fire occurred just before 3 p.m. There's 1 victim of smoke inhalation. It's estimated that the fire has burned about 100 acres. BFD reports that there is a lot of heavy smoke in the area.
If you are picking up a student or if you are waiting for pickup, please do so at the southeast parking lot near Christmas Tree Lane and Mount Vernon Avenue.

BC's Panorama campus is being closed due to the smoke in the area.
As of 3:25, the Bakersfield College Panorama campus is being closed due to the smoke in the area. The smoke has filled the air ducts of many buildings on campus and we are in the process of clearing buildings. If you are not on campus, please avoid the Panorama campus.
