Forward progression of 'Hub Fire' stopped, blaze covering 31 acres

UPDATE (7:41 a.m.): KCFD says forward progression of the "Hub Fire" has been stopped. The blaze is covering 31 acres. 

Officials at Kern Valley High School say class will remain in session today, but students will be released early due to an already planned minimum day.

UPDATE (6:57 a.m.): The Kern County Fire Department says the fire has now grown to 15 acres. Right now there is no threat to nearby structures. 

Helicopter 408 has been dispatched to help with the blaze.

We are following breaking news of a grass fire the size of a football field in the lake Isabella area.

Kern County Fire crews are on the scene as they try to put out the blaze. 

It was last reported that the fire was about 2 acres.

We have a crew headed to the scene right now.
