BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The new year brings new laws and one that covers renter's rights.

The Greater Bakersfield Legal Assistance is hosting two free workshops Saturday to explain new legislation that protects renters from illegal evictions and to make sure tenants know the new rent hike restrictions. Legal advocates and attorneys will answer questions during the two sessions.

The first one is at 10 a.m and the second at 3 p.m. It will take place at GBLA offices at 615 California Avenue.
