A homecoming nearly two years in the making is finally happening.
Bakersfield High is officially reopening the historic Griffith Field on Friday after a renovation process that forced the team to play away from their home field all of 2016.
A dedication and reopening ceremony will be held ahead of the the Drillers' matchup with Ridgeview. Gates are set to open at 5:30 p.m., with photo ops with the firms responsible taking place at 6:20 p.m. and the ribbon cutting ceremony taking place 6:40 p.m.
Kickoff against Ridgeview is set for 7 p.m.
