Grocery store chain Haggen has announced it will close all of its stores in California, including a handful in Bakersfield.
The company, which announced it has filed bankruptcy earlier this month, asked a bankruptcy court if it could close 100 stores in California, Arizona and Nevada.
Earlier this year Haggen bought nearly 150 Albertsons, Vons and Safeway stores, including a handful of Albertsons stores in Bakersfield.
Before filing for bankruptcy Haggen announced a handful of store closures and said it would layoff hundreds of employees.
